Residents at Creekside in Huntsville were delighted with the installation of raised garden beds in their courtyard. The gifts were provided to the community by an anonymous donor who had the idea, and made it happen. After installation, the generosity continued when local businesses, Landscapers Pride and McPike Water Wells filled the beds with soil. The final act of kindness came when the Walker County Master Gardeners volunteered to get their hands dirty, alongside our elders, to plant various vegetables.
The elders are hoping to have a plentiful harvest in the coming months that can be shared with the Chef to incorporate into their meals at the community. “This gift is so much more than just garden beds, this gift is actually giving a sense of pride, purpose and connection to our elders. This is what it is all about and we are so thankful for donors who get it. This gift is making a real difference,” expressed Executive Director, James Logan.
