Creekside Retirement Community in Huntsville was honored to recently be awarded a $20,000 grant from the Isla Carroll Turner Friendship Trust. The gift will benefit residents who are not otherwise able to meet their financial needs for care and services. The grant will help 9 residents with their monthly expense.
The Isla Carroll Turner Friendship Trust was founded by Mrs. Isla Carroll Sterling Turner in 1956. Mrs. Turner set up the Trust to generously share her treasure with her friends and other Texans in need. The Trust was originally established to support 13 of Mrs. Turner’s friends and to benefit older people in need in Harris County. The geographic area was later expanded to include the entire State of Texas. The Trust is unique in that it only supports organizations who provide services to Texans who are 60 years or older and to Texans with Down Syndrome age 47 years and older.
The residents, families and staff at Creekside are pleased to be among the untold numbers of Texans whose lives have been and will continue to be improved because of the industry, thoughtfulness, and compassion of Mrs. Isla Carroll Turner.
